The Triangle area is home to some of the most outstanding hospitals, emergency care, essential health and screening services and renowned specialists in the country. There are three major medical systems, including two top-rated teaching hospitals, within 30 minutes of each other. Wake Forest alone houses a multitude of superior medical professionals, specialists and treatment centers.

Rex Healthcare

Rex Healthcare, a member of UNC Health Care, is a private, not-for-profit health care system with more than 5,300 co-workers. Rex Healthcare has 660 beds (433 general acute beds and 227 skilled nursing) and treats nearly 34,000 inpatients each year.

Rex offers dedicated centers for cancer, surgery, heart and vascular, post-acute rehabilitation and skilled nursing care, wellness and women’s care plus dedicated services for bariatric, heartburn, pain management, sleep disorders, diabetes education, wound and emergency care.

Rex’s medical staff includes more than 1,100 physicians and 1,700 nurses. Rex provides various health care services throughout Wake County with facilities in Apex, Cary, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Wakefield and downtown Raleigh.

Rex was the first hospital in the Triangle to receive Magnet Recognition, placing Rex nurses among the top 6 percent in the nation. Rex was named one of the top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine in 2008, 2009 and 2011, and was highlighted as one of the Top 50 Hospitals in the U.S. by Becker’s Hospital Review in 2011. WakeMed Health & Hospitals

WakeMed Health & Hospitals uses the most advanced technologies to deliver exceptional care to the patients and families we serve. WakeMed is comprised of a 870-bed system and a network of outpatient healthcare facilities throughout Wake, Johnston and Harnett Counties.

The 61-bed hospital is scheduled to open in May 2015 at the existing WakeMed North Healthplex with a focus on inpatient women’s specialty services. Duke University Health System

Duke University Health System is a world-class academic and health care system, providing innovative and patient-centered medical care through its network of hospitals and clinics across the state.

The health system includes flagship hospital Duke University Hospital, ranked among the top hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, and the No. 1 hospital in North Carolina and the Triangle. Duke University Hospital has 957 beds. Additionally, top care is provided at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, with 369 beds, and Duke Raleigh Hospital, with 186 beds.

Among its providers system-wide, Duke handles more than 60,000 inpatient admissions and 2 million outpatients visits a year, covering more than 90,000 surgical procedures. Duke University Health System is also one of the region’s largest employers, with more than 15,000 full-time employees.

Wake Forest among top 10 fastest growing cities in NC!

Wake Forest is one of the top 10 cities in NC with the largest population increases between 2010 and 2015.  The 10 cities with the largest population increases between 2010 and 2015 contain 25% of the state’s total population but make up half of the total population growth over the five-year period.
